On Friday, July 26, another opening took place at the MPS Gallery. This time, abstract painting was presented by Jan Andrzej Walasek, an artist from Działdowo.

‘I am very happy with the invitation to Koszalin’, said Jan Andrzej Walasek. ‘I appreciate the fact that there are companies and their bosses who see that not only money, results and production are important. The promotion of art is also important. Thanks to your activity, people who do not visit the galleries, every day have the opportunity to interact with the work of talented Polish artists’, he said.

A versatile artist

Jan Andrzej Walasek has been drawing and painting for years, so that art becomes his passion over time. He searched for forms of artistic development through participation in creative groups and artistic activities. He was a co-founder of the MŁYN Painting Studio in Działdowo. He graduated with distinctions undergraduate studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk and master’s at the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn. In 2011 he received the Medal of Meritorious Culture of Gloria Artis. In his work he undertakes various topics, mainly inspired by nature, but also refers to the work of the great masters.

At the exhibition at MPS International, Jan Andrzej Walasek presented abstract painting. Eighteen works decorated and filled with the colors the company’s interior. Jan Andrzej Walasek made the first attempts of this type of painting in the mid-1990s. Initially, these were drawings in which the artist sought forms, signs and composition arrangements.

‘I want these images to have the power of action, which is why I use expressive forms, varied textures and strong colors in contrasting combinations’, the author explains.

‘Running a gallery is an expression of our commitment to corporate social responsibility’, says Wanda Stypułkowska, president of MPS International. ‘We want to be associated not only as a service provider, producer and employer. We believe that we are also owe something to the local community, so we give them an opportunity to experience wonderful art’.

The exhibition of Jan Andrzej Walasek will be presented on the ground floor of the MPS International building until the end of September.
